Greetings friends, Peace be with you.

THE CARPENTER

An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told the employer/contractor of his plans to leave the house-building business and live a more leisurely life with his wife, enjoying his extended family. He would miss the paycheck but needed to retire. They could get by.

The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favour. The carpenter said yes, but in time, it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end a dedicated career.

When the carpenter finished his work, the employer came to inspect the house. He handed the front door key to the carpenter. “This is your house,” he said. ”my gift to you.” The carpenter was shocked! What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently.

So it is with us. We build our lives, a day at a time, often putting less than our best into the building. Then with a shock, we realize we have to live in the house we have built. If we could do it over, we’d do it much differently. But we cannot go back.

You are the carpenter. Each day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. “Life is a do-it-yourself project,” someone has said. Your attitudes and the choices you make today, build the house you live in tomorrow. Build wisely!

We recently held a community gathering after the Chrysalis Flights, at Peatties Lake, where the caterpillars were introduced to our Emmaus Community. We welcomed them and praised God for their testimonies and experiences. A great gathering! Wonderful to have seen those that attended.

You have the opportunity and we ask you to sponsor pilgrims for Walks being held during September. Men’s Walk # 134 is being held over the weekend of 14 – 17 and Ladies Walk # 135 over the weekend of 21 – 24 September, at African Enterprise, in Pietermaritzburg.

The Emmaus Walk is a wonderful time for those to experience God at a different level. The pilgrims, however, are not the only ones who experience the walk to Emmaus, I have had the privilege to work on several walks and each time I come away refreshed in spirit. God is good all the time! Just 1 more for Jesus!

We have not arrived at our destination yet. We should endeavour to continue to grow in the Lord, until we arrive. I am learning more and more about God’s Amazing Grace, that He is on our side and wants the very best for us. So because God wants the best for us, is it not reasonable that we should give Him back the best that we have?

Let us share this amazing grace with all our friends – let’s prayerfully sponsor for these upcoming events and change lives.  Please, just 1 more for Jesus!  Please visit kznemmaus.co.za for sponsorship forms.

So let us endeavour to make this Emmaus Community the best that it can be. Without you as the sponsor, we will not have a Community! Let us make God’s church the best it can be. Let us make ourselves the best ambassador, that represents our Saviour, in the best light to a hungry and dying word. May God bless us all as we continue on our journey with Him.

Just 1 more for Jesus!

De Colores,

Nigel
