Greetings friends,
I was so excited about how 2023 had started and to see what God has in store for us. Sadly, the Board had to take the decision to cancel Face to Face Encounter #131 which was planned for March due to lack of pilgrims. Having to make these decisions are hurtful and disappointing for many, especially the team, who had completed their team formation training days and were prepared to welcome the pilgrims. Please friends, I ask that you pledge to sponsor and share the love of Christ.
We are currently gearing up for the KZN Chrysalis Flights. Warren Schultz and Tanya Volker will be the Lay Director’s and have been hard at work getting the teams ready. Team formation training meetings have begun. Please keep Warren, Tanya and the Teams in your prayers, as they are opening their hearts and minds to God’s will. It is truly amazing how God always knows just the right people to serve at the right time, however it takes willingness on our part.
This reminds me of a favourite scripture of mine, found in 1 Corinthians 12:12-13, “The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So, it is with Christ. For we were all baptised by one Spirit, into one body – whether Jews or Greeks, slave of free – and we were all given the one spirit to drink.”
In the text written by Paul in verses 1-11, prior to the ones I listed above, Paul outlined some of the Spiritual Gifts that God has given to each of us. He continues in verse 11 by saying, “All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and He gives
them to each one, just as He determines.”
Could you imagine if we all had the same gift? There wouldn’t be any variety! What a different world that would be, and I don’t believe that much would be accomplished for the body of Christ. God has a plan for each and every one of us (Jeremiah 29:11). To execute God’s plan, we all need to pull together as one, and use the gifts that God has given each of us in order to grow Christ’s Kingdom here on earth. One body, unified in Jesus Christ, working to love and care for those around us.
What kind of gifts do you have? As you know, planning and executing an Emmaus event takes help from everyone in the community.
- Is God calling you to use your gifts to serve?
- Are you willing to serve God with your gifts?
As we move further into 2023, my prayer is that we will all continue to work together, pulling together, and be the Body of Christ.
God Bless,
Nigel Warr
