Merry Christmas
Greetings friends with peace and thanksgiving, As we journey through this the Advent season, our schedules get busy with holiday plans and family arrangements. Sometimes we place other things in the background and on hold, like Emmaus ministries. We get so caught up in the hustle and bustle and busyness of this time of year, for some of us, our priorities get out of line. As we were making all our plans for Christmas, doing our shopping and on entering our local mall this week, in search of the right gifts, it dawned on me, what about the “gift of life.”
So, at this time of year what better way to show someone that you love them than to invite them to share in either an Emmaus, Chrysalis or Face to Face experience. Events are being planned by your newly elected Board for 2025. I cannot think of a better gift that you could give to someone than to sponsor them on one of these events. Nothing quite like giving a gift that will change a life!
Thank you for the honour of allowing me to be the Community Lay Director for the past 2 years. I am humbled by the support of such willing servants that I was privileged to share the past 2 years with. We faced some significant challenges, one of them being the planned Chrysalis flights being postponed to 2025. It is as always, because of God’s grace that we all pulled together, that we overcame many obstacles faced – one being with regards to pilgrims for Walks # 140 and # 141. Face to Face held at Scottburgh was well received and the board look forward to planning more events down the coast with the support of the local community members.

“Give thanks to God for His love endures forever.” At times, we sometimes forget to give thanks to God for His goodness and love. Being thankful reminds us that everything we have is a gift from God. Thankfulness keeps our hearts in right relationship with the Giver of all good gifts.
As we are all preparing to celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus, we should all remember that Joseph and Mary’s journey was not without struggles and bumps. Think about heading out, on a donkey, on a dusty road just before your child is due to be born. God did not soften the road they travelled but strengthened them for the journey. If He did it for them He will most definitely do it for each one of us!
On behalf of the 2024 Board I wish you and your dear family and friends a blessed and happy Christmas and a prosperous 2025.
Prayers and blessings,
Nigel
