Paul writes in his letter to the Colossians:
"As you therefore have received Christ, Jesus the Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving (Colossians 2:6, 7).
What a privilege and a joy to have received Christ Jesus, the Lord, into our lives. We know that we are not worthy of him but, yet, in his love and mercy, he has made us his own and has delivered us out of the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of Light. We thank God for the Walk to Emmaus and all that it does to foster our life in Jesus.
We know that the real challenge for us is in our fourth days is to continue our life in him. Our prayer is that for those who have just experienced the Walk to Emmaus you may, indeed, continue to be built up in the faith. We pray that your Walk to Emmaus would have helped to root you very deeply in the Christian life. Just as a tree is deep rooted in the soil, so, we pray that you may continue to draw nourishment from Jesus and be so rooted in him that the "storms of life" will not blow you over.
Please consider whether God is calling you to work on a Walk to Emmaus. As was explained to you during your walk, you now have the opportunity to give to others the same experience that you have been able to receive. Please remember to send in your application form. It is a wonderful thing to experience the Walk to Emmaus. It is just as, if not more, wonderful to work on a walk. We remember the words of Jesus, that "It is more blessed to give than to receive".
So let us walk with Jesus, let us be rooted in him, and let us continue to be built up in him always abounding in thanksgiving for his grace and mercy.
